About: I was given the task of redesigning a book cover as part of an assignment for my Digital Layout & Design class at Kansas Wesleyan University. We were given certain restrictions/parameters we had to work within and this was my take on Anthony Burgess’ “A Clockwork Orange.”

Some years later I was contacted by David Higham Associates, the literary agents who represent the interests of the International Anthony Burgess Foundation. They let me know that they had been approached by a high-end French fashion brand (Olympia Le-Tan), who specialize in bags and other accessories. OLT wanted to use my reimagined design and embroider the artwork onto their handbags. The creator of Olympia Le-Tan has a love for books and so she makes a number of her bags in the shape of a “book clutch” design.

OLT has had licensing deals with companies like The New Yorker, Disney, Pac Man and Mattel and their bags have been worn by celebrities such as Milly Bobby Brown, Emma Watson, Natalie Portman, etc. They sell their products online and at several department stores such as Harrods and Neiman Marcus. Handbag sales began in 2021 and can be found sold on OLT’s website here. Their Instagram page can be found here.

The images above showcases the product, celebrity collaborations, OLT’s social media campaigns, accompanying artist credit, and my original design.
