About the Project: “The Framingham Beat” is a newsmagazine style program that is aired bi-weekly on Access Framingham Television (a local public access television station). They cover events and stories around the Framingham, Massachusetts area.

AFTV has recently received an award for their news show by MassAccess. MassAccess is an organization that advocates for community media in Massachusetts and they created the Massachusetts Creator Awards to recognize the best that the creative community in the Commonwealth has to offer. “The Framingham Beat” won the “News” category in 2017.

I have been producing/editing short news segments for AFTV. The following videos are a few examples of the pieces I have produced.

Equipment & Software Used: These segments have been filmed with a Sony PXW‑X70 XDCAM camera. Other equipment includes a lavalier microphone, handheld wireless microphone, XLR cables, tripod, and headphones. Editing software I used was Final Cut Pro X.

My Roles: I have been a camera operator, reporter, and editor for these pieces. I meet weekly with AFTV production staff to plan events to cover. We gather what information we can ahead of time by speaking with the event coordinators, and I come up with interview questions and record the event.

The voiceovers done by the news anchors are scripted by AFTV staff. My role includes the video package.
